Mark This Day

The Capitol and American Flag

Fellow Democrats and Ward 2 Neighbors,

Today we mark the one year anniversary of The Insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Like many of you, I spent the day replaying events in my mind. As residents of the nation’s capital we have a front row seat to some of the most important events in history, both good and bad.

I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that with the news surrounding this anniversary — coupled with the ever present topic of COVID — it is important to acknowledge feelings of fear, anxiety and stress. If you, or a member of your family, are in need of assistance look at these resources from the DC Department of Behavioral Health.

Far too many people see the District solely as the seat of the federal government. They forget people like you and I, the nearly 700,000 souls that call DC home. Frankly, there is no place I rather be than Washigton, DC and Ward 2.
