What Lies Ahead for DC's Ward 2 Democrats

Neighbors:

On Thursday, October 28, I was pleased and humbled to be voted in as the next Chair of Ward 2 Democrats (W2D), succeeding Austin Naughton.

I assumed the role alongside my colleagues Monica Roaché, Walter Springman, James Harnett, China Dickerson and Ward 2 Committeewoman Robin Nunn (learn more about us). Since then we have gathered together on Zoom to strategize about next steps as we await the new year.

As a lifelong Democrat and 15-year resident of Ward 2, I am excited about what lies ahead for the organization. That said, there is a great deal of work to do. Among our objectives for 2022 are to:

  • Reengage with Democrats across the ward, and identify the issues of greatest importance to you;

  • Offer opportunities for camaraderie, networking and community engagement;

  • Utilize Ward 2 Democrats as an avenue to bring our elected officials – from Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners and State Board of Education Members, to Councilmembers and the Mayor – before you for constructive dialog;

  • Serve as a conduit to better inform and educate Ward 2 residents about policies that affect them.

The Democratic Primary and November elections are fast approaching. With that in mind, I want to make sure you have every opportunity to become as well informed as you can, before casting your vote.

I am at your service. You are welcome to contact me at info@ward2democrats.org with any questions or comments.

I wish you and yours a safe, joyous holiday season!

Juan Ulloa
