Ward 2 ANC Redistricting Task Force to Host First Meeting Sunday January 16
Now that the District of Columbia’s ward boundaries are official, the next step in the process is determining Ward 2’s Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) boundaries.
The Ward 2 ANC Redistricting Task Force will draft new recommended boundaries, which it submits to the Council within 90 days of the Mayor signing the new ward boundaries into law. Mayor Muriel Bowser signed the ward boundary legislation on December 29, 2021, so the Ward 2 Task Force has until the last week of March 2022 to submit recommendations to the Council.
Councilmember Brooke Pinto appointed the Ward 2 members, and under District law, she must "give full consideration to assuring fair representation for all racial and ethnic minorities, women, and geographical areas in his or her ward."
The first meeting for Ward 2 takes place this Sunday, January 16, at 2:00 PM and is open to the public. To register click here. To see future meeting dates for the Ward 2 Task Force visit the website of At-Large Councilmember Elissa Silverman, chair of the Council’s Sub-Committee on Redistricting.
